I have always loved the idea of conceptual makeup: makeup that does not have
to live in the realm of the everyday; makeup that does not need to satisfy
the demands of day to day life or a circumstance in which certain elements
may or may not be deemed "appropriate". The arena of fashion is one in which
a creative artist can truly break ground. In fashion, we are often able to
paint a face, much as we would a canvas, with the primary stipulation being
only to satisfy an aesthetic principle or goal. In fashion, the ideal of
"beauty" can be other than traditional. The joy is in the risk and the risk
is in creating something new, bold and different.
